The encounter between the mighty Bali, who had the power to draw half the strength of his opponent, and Hanuman:

Bali, the brother of Sugriva, the father of Angad, the husband of the apsara Tara, and the son of the great vanara Riksh, was immensely powerful. Bali, the son of the king of Kishkindha and the son of the king of the gods, Indra, would absorb half the strength of whoever he fought, making his opponent weak and eventually defeated.

According to the Ramayana, Bali obtained a golden necklace from his father, the god Indra, which made him almost invincible. Due to the power of this necklace, Bali was nearly unbeatable. He fought many battles and emerged victorious in all of them. Brahma had endowed this golden necklace with a mantra, stating that whenever Bali would confront his enemies in battle while wearing it, half of his opponent's strength would be diminished, and this diminished strength would be added to Bali. This was the secret of Bali's strength.

Bali defeated many warriors using his incredible power. He defeated an asura named Dundubhi, who possessed the strength of a thousand elephants. After defeating Dundubhi, Bali also killed his brother Mayavi. Ravana, hearing about Bali's strength, decided to confront him in battle. However, Bali kept Ravana pressed under his armpit for six months until finally, Ravana accepted defeat and made him his ally.

Since Lord Rama had not committed any offense, but still, Bali held resentment in his heart, thinking that Lord Rama had deceitfully killed him while he was hiding. Then Lord Rama promised him that his pain would be alleviated. When Lord Rama incarnated as Krishna, Bali took a new birth as a monkey named Jara, and mistaking Krishna for a deer, he shot him with an arrow while Krishna was resting under a tree. Thus, Bali's grudge or revenge was fulfilled.

The encounter between Hanuman and the mighty Bali:

There is a tale of the encounter between Hanuman and the mighty Bali. Bali was arrogant, believing that no one in the world could defeat him or confront him. One day, while intoxicated with his own strength, Bali arrived in the forest, threatening people and shouting that who among them has drunk their mother's milk to confront him.

During that time, the devotee of Lord Rama, Hanuman, was meditating in the forest. Bali's shouting disturbed his meditation. Hanuman said to Bali, "Monkey king, you are indeed very powerful, and no one can defeat you. But why are you shouting like this?"

Hearing this, Bali became angry. He challenged Hanuman, saying, "If you worship someone, I can defeat even that person." Seeing Bali making a mockery of Lord Rama, Hanuman became furious and accepted Bali's challenge. It was decided that the next day, at sunrise, they would have a duel.

The next day, as Hanuman prepared for the duel, Brahma appeared before him. Brahma tried to dissuade Hanuman from accepting Bali's challenge. But Hanuman said that Bali had challenged my Lord Rama. In this case, if I refuse his challenge, what will the world think of me? Therefore, I must teach him a lesson.

Hearing this, Brahma said, "Alright, go for the duel, but take only ten percent of your power, and surrender the rest at the feet of your Lord. You can regain this power after the duel." Hearing this, Hanuman agreed and set out to confront Bali with only ten percent of his total strength.

As soon as Hanuman stepped forward in the arena, in accordance with Brahma's boon, half of Hanuman's strength entered Bali's body. Bali began to feel an immense surge of power within his body. It felt as if an ocean of strength was surging within him. After a few moments, Bali began to feel as if the veins of his body were about to burst, and blood was about to spurt out.

Suddenly, Brahma appeared there and told Bali that if you want to keep yourself alive, then immediately run away from Hanuman for miles; otherwise, your body will burst. Bali didn't understand anything, but seeing Brahma appearing like this, he understood that something was wrong, and he immediately ran away from there.

After going far away, he found relief. He began to feel weak. Then he saw that Brahma was standing before him. Then Brahma said, "You consider yourself the most powerful in the world, but you are not even able to handle a small part of Hanuman's strength. I want to tell you that Hanuman had come to fight you with only ten percent of his power. Think what would have happened if he had come with all his power?"

Upon realizing his mistake, Bali bowed down to Hanuman and said, "Despite possessing immeasurable strength, Hanumanji, you remain calm and continue singing the praises of Lord Rama, while I, who am not even equal to a single hair of yours, was challenging you. Please forgive me, Hanuman."
